WALK THE LINE, sadly, looks kind of like a remake of Ray.

they did WTL here in my offices. It's like Ray without an imitation at its center. Phoenix gives a better performance than Foxx, but Foxx looked more like Charles than Phoenix does Cash. Also, in the department of people you've never heard of but are astounding (Ray's mother in Ray), be sure to watch Ginnifer Goodwin as Cash's first wife and the shit he put her through. It's a helluva performance. Also, considering Ray Charles is blind, the sound mix for Ray sucked, even if it did win an Oscar. It's still unimaginative and constrained in a situation where audio should be the driving force of the movie. Note I did not say music there. The music mixing and editing in Ray is phenomenal, but the rest of the aural environments were staid and bland. Walk the Line on the other hand takes full advantage of the use of aural elements, and not just music, in Cash's life. Hell the blade saw alone nearly makes me shit my trousers. Anyway, just an irrelevant opinion unjustly comparing two movies that no one else has had the opportunity to compare, thus negating any feedback. Still though, I think WTL is a better movie than Ray and Phoenix gives a better performance, but does not look AS MUCH like Cash as Foxx did Charles.
